About Abcor
The History of Abcor
Through Humble Beginnings with Blood, Sweat, and Tears, To Hard-Fought Victories.
Now Industry Pioneers
Abcor Pty Ltd was born out of hard work, grit, and determination. It all began in 1971 when Greg Kaias, a first-generation migrant with a sharp mind and a relentless work ethic, set up a small fabrication business in Preston, Melbourne. Known then as Preston General Engineering (PGE), the operation started in the most modest of ways — a single workshop, no large machines, and only the most basic tools at hand. It has now grown into one of Australia's leading engineering and manufacturing companies, specialising in truck, automotive, and defence components.
Abcor's reputation grew quickly because clients knew that if we promised something, we would deliver it. That reliability earned us the trust of many multinational customers — partnerships that still remain strong decades later.
Over the years, Abcor has evolved from a modest family operation into a large-scale enterprise employing more than 300 skilled team members across multiple sites in Victoria. Greg's sons, John and James, helped drive this transformation, guiding their highly skilled and dedicated team — year after year introducing advanced technology, expanding into new industries, and building a culture that values innovation as much as craftsmanship.
Behind every product we manufacture is a team of exceptional engineers — the backbone of our innovation. Our team of Engineers work hand in hand with production, using advanced CAD design, simulation software, and real-world testing to ensure every component meets the highest standards of performance and quality. From concept to completion, our engineering team continues to push boundaries, developing smarter, more efficient solutions for our customers across industries.
Then came the turning point that cemented Abcor's position at the top of its field. In 2015, the company opened a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility to supply Toyota Australia with genuine OEM products — an automated site capable of producing thousands of products per year and recognised as one of the cleanest and most advanced facilities of its kind in the region.
Today, Abcor operates across four major sites in Victoria, producing over 13,000 part designs and manufacturing more than a million components annually. These facilities are equipped with cutting-edge Automation, mass robotic integration, and automated production systems. We proudly supply customers including Kenworth, Paccar, Toyota, Volvo, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Mack Trucks and many more — not to mention serving as a trusted supplier to the Australian Defence Force.
Our reach is broad, but our values remain personal — the same principles of respect, accountability, and teamwork that shaped our beginnings continue to guide us today through exponential growth.
At Abcor, every employee plays a meaningful role in something much bigger. Our team includes industry veterans with over 30 years of experience alongside the next generation of engineers and tradesmen who are learning from them every day. We take pride in offering not just jobs, but careers — where hard work is noticed, growth is encouraged, and your contribution truly matters.
From a small workshop with a few tools to a national leader in advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, Abcor is proof that great things are built by people who care — and who never stop striving to stay at the top.

Preston General Engineering and Preston Structural Steel operated side by side, working in harmony to deliver quality fabrication and structural solutions.
