Abcor Invests in the Future of Manufacturing with the Markforged FX20

Abcor is proud to announce the arrival of the Markforged FX20, one of the world's most advanced composite 3D printers and the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. This cutting-edge addition to our manufacturing arsenal pushes the boundaries of what's possible in Australian engineering—giving us the power to design, test, and produce custom, production-ready parts entirely in-house.

Innovation that works for our customers

The FX20 allows Abcor's engineering team of eight specialists to collaborate directly with customers from concept through to finished component—all under one roof. Whether it's a prototype, a lightweight structural part, or a replacement for a critical machine component, we can now move from idea to finished part in a matter of hours, not weeks. That means faster delivery, fewer supply-chain dependencies, and total design flexibility.

With advanced materials such as ULTEM™ 9085, carbon-fiber, and Kevlar® reinforcement, the FX20 prints parts that are as strong as machined aluminum, yet lighter, more adaptable, and ready for demanding industrial environments. This capability opens new doors for customers seeking faster turnaround, complex geometries, or small-batch production runs—without the traditional tooling delays or outsourcing hurdles.

Future-proofing our manufacturing operations

Downtime is the enemy of delivery. With the FX20, Abcor has effectively eliminated the risk of production bottlenecks. If a custom jig, bracket, or tooling component fails anywhere in our fleet, our engineers can now 3D-print a replacement on demand—in Kevlar® or carbon-fiber composites strong enough to stand in for solid billet aluminum.

This means your products keep moving, even when things go wrong. By maintaining our own rapid-response manufacturing capability, we ensure continuity of production and on-time delivery—no matter what happens.

Designed, engineered, and built entirely in-house

Every printed part starts in our Malvern engineering office, where our team uses advanced CAD and simulation software to design and validate custom components. Those designs are then seamlessly transferred to the FX20 at our Campbellfield facility, where our engineers oversee the entire production process. The result is a perfectly integrated workflow—designed, printed, and quality-checked by Abcor, without leaving the building.

Engineering the future

The Markforged FX20 is more than a 3D printer—it's a statement of intent. It represents Abcor's commitment to innovation, speed, and customer reliability. By embracing this technology, we've given ourselves the flexibility to adapt instantly, eliminate downtime, and deliver smarter, faster, and stronger solutions for our customers.

At Abcor, we don't just build for today—we engineer for tomorrow.
